I began my exploration into Eastern philosophy at the age of 32 with studying Taoism (Tao -translated as "the way"). This chapter, shown below, came back to me as I reflected on the perfect name to describe this important work..
Thirty spokes share one hub.
What makes it useful is the hole in the center.
Clay is shaped into a vessel.
What makes the vessel useful is the space within.
Door and windows are cut for a room.
What makes the room useful is the space inside.
Therefore, what is there is beneficial,
while what is not there makes it useful.
